Genre: Mystery (Near Future, Romance, Police Procedural)

Synopsis: Set about 60 years in the future, not much has changed in this somewhat superficial portrayal of the New York City. Lietenant Eve Dallas gets has a fron-row view of a murder at one of the lushest theaters in the city. The subsequent investigation shows the acting skill of the suspects, as well as Dallas's skill in uncovering the truth.

Full Review: Not particularly thoughful nor deep, the Dallas mysteries nevertheless do show glints of darkness and humor when touching on the intense emotions involved in violent crime. The main character, Eve Dallas, is almost improbably capable, but remains likable as she is presented with a complex search for the truth, and an even harder path to justice. Her supporting characters, including the impossibly perfect Roarke, and charmingly direct Peabody, add charm and emotional counterpoint to the investigation. Perhaps better than in the previous novels, the suspects appear solid, complex, and sympathetic.

This is an enjoyable addition to the casually pleasant series.
