Both amusing and tense, this mystery has plenty of social color, detection, and some romantic repartee.

Synopsis: Sarah Booth Delaney is a thirty-something scion of a prominent Mississippi family. Having stumbled in investigation of crimes, she has made it her source of income. In her new case, one of her schoolmates, Lee, has hired Sarah Booth to help with her case—Sarah Booth being the main suspect in her husband's murder. The problem is that Lee insists that she's guilty, making her defense rather difficult.

Full Review: This is another amusing and rather appealing mystery, featuring a likable heroine and her friends and allies, enough despicable or at least tedious acquiatances to fill a formal ball. Sarah Booth's personal quest for happiness, spurred on by the rather annoying ghost of a family nanny both enlivens and sometimes detracts from the plot.

In general, the human interactions and motivations are amusing and sometimes insightful, and the combination of humorous fluff and suspense results in a satisfying book.

Overall: 6; Plot: 5.5; Characters: 6; Style: 5.5; World-building: 6; Originality: 6;
