A fast-moving, somewhat improbable mystery with a somewhat predictable plot and a plucky and not entirely likable heroine.

Synopsis: This is an unabridged recording of Running from the Law.
Rita Morrone, the daughter of a Philadelphia butcher, is a young and successful lawyer. As passionate about poker as she is about winning her cases, she bluffs and improvises in court with the same intensity as at the neighborhood game.
Despite of, or perhaps because of her legal success, her personal life is rocky. Rita suspects that her long-time boyfriend and possible future husband is keeping things from her. The boyfriend's father, a respected federal judge, has been accused of sexual harassment. Despite the personal involvement, Rita's passion for winning makes her take the case. But the case becomes criminal when the accuser is murdered, and both Rita's client and her boyfriend are suspects.
Full Review: This is a short and fast-moving book. It has some humor, and more than a bit of excitement. The plot is simplistic and implausible in places, with Rita making a number of unlikely decisions—and frequently succeeding.
The major flaws are the predictability (the villain was relatively clear in the beginning), and a certain degree of unlikability in the protagonist herself.
