Another adventure of the slightly humorous spy kind, this novel features an unusual heroine, a sense of humor, exotic locale, and fast if superficial plot.

Genre: Mystery (Cloak and Dagger)

Synopsis: Mrs. Pollifax, the grandmotherly part-time spy for the CIA, plays the tourist one more time. This time, she will be working with another agent in the People's Republic of China, to help in the extremely difficult job of extracting a labor camp inmate from the repressive country.

Full Review: This is an unabridged recording of Mrs. Pollifax on the China Station.

With a slightly more serious tone than the previous installments in this series, this novel still has a generous amount of humor. The plot is slightly marred by the increasing use of psychic tones. One of the tensest moments at the end of the book was resolved in a slightly unsatisfying, "divine intervention" manner.

The plot still moves quickly and entertainingly as the exotic locale, occasionally tense confrontations and the mixture of excitement, fear, courage and satisfaction are portrayed in this light-weight but attractive narrative. Overall, this is a solid addition to the amusing and exciting serious of thrillers.

Overall: 5.5; Plot: 5; Characters: 5.5; Style: 6; World-building: 5.5; Originality: 6;
