Another adventure of the slightly humorous spy kind, this novel features an unusual heroine, a sense of humor, exotic locale, colorful characters, and fast if superficial plot.

Synopsis: Mrs. Pollifax, the grandmotherly part-time spy for the CIA, is called to help out an old friend. John Sebastian Farrel, a former CIA operative, has called for help in Sicily. When Mrs. Pollifax arrives on the island, the situation appears considerably more complex and dangerous than anybody anticipated.

Full Review: This is an unabridged recording of Mrs. Pollifax and the Second Thief.

When Mrs. Pollifax arrives at the Palermo Airport, the first surprise is the identity of the agent assigned to help her by the CIA. As she and the agent assist John Farrel, complications arise by the minute, including tension between the good guys, several sets of bad guys, old enemies and eccentric and secretive allies.

The deep dark secret of the villains proved disappointing, but the dialogue and humor getting there were more than entertaining enough. This book is recommended as another fine addition to this lightweight but pleasant spy novel series.

Overall: 5.5; Plot: 4; Characters: 5.5; Style: 6; World-building: 5.5; Originality: 6;
