Another adventure of the slightly humorous spy kind, this novel features an unusual heroine, a sense of humor, exotic locale, and fast if superficial plot.

Synopsis: This is an unabridged recording of Mrs. Pollifax and the Golden Triangle.

Mrs. Pollifax, the grandmotherly part-time spy for the CIA, has married her beloved Cyrus, and is enjoying her new marriage immensely. On their first international trip as a married couple, Emily and Cyrus agree to drop off a small package in Thailand as a favor for Mrs. Pollifax's friend from the CIA, Bishop.

As might be expected, the simple tourists get involved in dangerous intrigue, with guerilla fighters, opium smugglers, rogue spies, primitive villagers and Buddhist monks all making Mrs. Pollifax's life difficult.

Full Review: A pleasant, light-weight adventure in the dangerous and exotic area between Thailand and Burma, this thriller takes a slight deviation from the earlier Mrs. Pollifax novels by exposing the plot to the reader without making Mrs. Pollifax aware of all the permutations. Along with a generous portion of humor, the well-drawn and engaging character of Mrs. Pollifax herself adds to the pleasure of this otherwise simplistic mystery.

Overall: 5.5; Plot: 5; Characters: 5.5; Style: 6; World-building: 5.5; Originality: 6;
